At Northwell Health, our gastrointestinal pathology team offers broad experience in adult gastrointestinal and pancreaticobiliary disease, including fine needle aspirations and biopsies, endoscopic biopsies and surgical resection specimens.
Sigmoidoscopy is helpful in identifying the causes of diarrhea, abdominal pain, constipation, abnormal growths and bleeding. It may also be used to obtain biopsies, remove polyps or hemorrhoids and screen for colorectal cancer.
