Electrodiagnostic testing
Electrodiagnostic testing (electromyography and nerve conduction velocity studies [EMG/NCS]) is a form of testing that is used to study nerve and muscle function. An EMG/NCS will provide a doctor with specific information about the extent and prognosis of a patient’s nerve injury and can help determine treatments that are best for the individual condition.
EMG/NCS testing is available from Northwell Health physiatrists. The physiatrists (rehabilitation physicians) are experts in the nonoperative treatment of injuries to the nerve muscle and/or bones. Their expertise lies in treatment options to restore function. No prescription is necessary for this test.
