Sports medicine

Sports injuries tend to be serious because of the amount of force and energy exerted at the time of impact. Because athletes are used to feeling aches, pains and other discomforts, they often let their injuries go untreated for longer than they should. That's when long-term and chronic injuries develop, and that's why it’s important to seek treatment from a sports medicine expert as soon as something feels off.

When looking for treatment, you can feel confident about our Sports Medicine Program. We offer a high level of care from experts who specifically treat athletes—including those from the New York Islanders, New York Jets, Long Island Ducks, Kings Point Merchant Marine Academy, and multiple high schools across the metropolitan area.

New pain, fracture, sprain or strain?

We offer same-day, night and weekend appointments seven days a week.

What sets us apart

See how we’re finding new ways to alleviate pain and expedite recovery—using the latest insights and technology.

Rehabilitation technology

DorsaVi

Placing abnormal forces on joints can help to preserve them and keep you pain free so you can stay in the game. Utilizing DorsaVi technology can help objectively assess the risk of injury or imbalance, guide an intervention and optimize your performance.

Blood flow restriction training

Blood flow restriction training, sometimes referred to as KAATSU, BFR or occlusion training, allows you to train at lower loads while achieving the same results you would get with high intensity training.

Instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization

Instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) provides all of the benefits of standard massage techniques but utilizes specialized instruments in the place of the therapist's hands.

Biofeedback

Biofeedback systems use surface electromyography (sEMG) instrumentation to measure the electrical activity produced by targeted muscle groups during therapeutic exercise or specific functional activities. Through real-time audiovisual feedback you and your therapist can target proper muscle sequencing, avoid compensatory muscle groups from firing during functional movements and encourage maximum volitional contraction (MVC). This all results in a better understanding of muscle activation and improves the accuracy of muscle recruitment and learning with every movement.

Hypervolt

Hypervolt percussion therapy concentrates targeted pulses of pressure into the muscle/tissue of your body, helping to relieve muscle pain and soreness, and increase range of motion. Percussive stimulation provides comprehensive relief by reaching both the superficial and deep muscle fibers.

86—and still playing baseball

Bruce Jaslow, 86, is still in the game thanks to rotator cuff surgery he had at North Shore University Hospital two decades ago.

Hospital security manager and strongman competitor Patrick Lane tore a muscle doing deadlifts. He chose surgery at Northwell Greenwich Village Hospital's Ambulatory Surgery Center to mend it. Now, he’s stronger than ever.
